Story Time LIVE on Zoom! – Winter Reading Challenge

We are back for Story Time with JPL Children’s Department staff LIVE on Zoom! Join us as we kick off our library-wide Winter Reading Challenge with a fun and interactive story time!

Remember – library cards are NEVER required for participation in activities, so give us a try!
We will meet in a Zoom chatroom on Tuesday morning, January 12 at 9:30 am, say hello to one another, and then get to the fun! To sign up, simply email childrens@joplinpubliclibrary.org or call 417-623-7953 ext 1038 by Monday evening, January 11. Once you have signed up, children’s staff will send you a Zoom meeting invite.

The story time will be geared toward children aged 1-5 years. As an added bonus, starting Thursday, December 31, you can pick up supplies for a fun craft at the JPL Children’s Department or curbside pick up. At the end of story time on Tuesday, you can work on your craft at home LIVE with other kids and library staff!

Explore and Play at Home: Snow Day

Fun and interactive activity kits will be available for the first 70 children (ages 1-5) and their families. Pick up your bag in the Children’s Department or via curbside pickup and join your library friends in having your own Explore and Play Snow Day at home!

All kits are first come, first served.

Chapter Book Club: Odd and the Frost Giants

Young readers are invited to join the Children’s Department as we embark on a voyage into the land of the vikings!

Children ages 7-12 are invited to participate in our next chapter book club. We will be reading Neil Gaiman’s “Odd and the Frost Giants” in weekly installments. Corresponding activities will be available each Friday beginning January 15th.

Sign-ups begin Monday, January 4th via email (childrens@joplinpubliclibrary.org), by phone (417-623-7953) or in person. Registration is limited to the first 20 children.
