Award Winning Children’s Books

Welcome to the Children’s Department

Do you know about 1000 Books Before Kindergarten? It is a nationwide reading challenge for kids ages 0-5 and their parents/caregivers. Getting started is simple–all you have to do is pick up a book! How you keep track of the books you read is up to you, but 1000 Books Before Kindergarten offers paper reading logs (also available as a PDF) and an app to help you along the way.

How it works: Every time you finish a book, fill in the circle on your log or enter it in Beanstack. When you read 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1,000 books, visit the library for a free book to keep!

If you read 1 book a day for 3 years, you will have read 1,095 books!
