The Rosemary Titus Reynold’s Children’s Department at the Joplin Public Library is thrilled to welcome children’s book author and Missouri building block nominee Jodi Jensen Shaffer to Joplin on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10 AM. Jensen Shaffer will present “You’ve Got Cow Power! (Featuring Prudence the Part-Time Cow),” which includes a closer look at her process for writing the 2020 Show Me Award finalist.
This presentation is designed for children ages 6-8 and their caregivers. Attendance is limited to 70 people and will take place in the Library’s Community Room.
In celebration of the birth of Joplin native Langston Hughes, the Langston Hughes Cultural Society and Post Art Library are pleased to present Still Here: A Collection of Artifacts from the Family of Langston Hughes in the library’s Community Room on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10:30am. This program features a selection of artifacts from the Langston Hughes Family Museum and a presentation from Executive Director and Curator Marjol Rush-Collet. The Langston Hughes Family Museum is a traveling museum featuring original photographs, personal belongings, household items, crystal glassware, silver utensils, and period clothing used by various Hughes family members. This is a free, public event. Registration is not necessary. Please note that seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
Joplin Public Library is excited to announce that the Library will now remain open until 8 pm on Tuesdays (and Thursdays)! Come and see us this evening.
Come and make your own bookmark out of felt! Basic embroidery skills are helpful but not necessary. All supplies will be provided.
Chat & Craft meets from 6 to 8 pm on the first Tuesday of every month in Community Room West.
This month we have a special project to tie in with our summer reading theme: Oceans of Possibilities! Bring some worsted weight yarn and a size G (4.00mm) crochet hook — if you have one — all other supplies will be provided.
If you don’t want to make a jellyfish, feel free to bring your own project to work on!
