July 5, 2022 – Chat-mas in July + bring your own craft

It’s another Bring-Your-Own Craft day for this month’s Chat & Craft, but that’s not all we’re doing! Over the past few months members of our community have been gracious enough to donate plenty of craft magazines to the library. Now it’s time for you to take some home!

Quilting, scrapbooking, knitting, crochet, and cross stitch — we have a bit of everything! So join us on July 5th for Chat-mas in July!

June 7, 2022 – Crochet Jellyfish Amigurumi

JPL’s Summer Reading Program has officially started, and this year’s theme is Oceans of Possibilities! In keeping with that theme, I thought it would be fun to crochet jellyfish.

I just found out that the name for a group of jellyfish is a smack, though they can also be called a bloom or a swarm.

So join us June 7th as we make a smack of jellyfish!

If you would like to make a jellyfish, please bring:

Yarn – any color, worsted weight

Crochet hook – G/4.00mm

We meet from 6 to 8 pm on the first Tuesday of every month in Community Room West (the large room at the end of the Bramlage and Willcoxon Foundation Gallery).

February 1, 2022 – Show and Tell

Do you have a closet full of unfinished projects? Have you gone to the craft store “just to look around” and found yourself leaving with an armload of goodies? Got a project you’re muddling through? Did you just pick up a new hobby — and now you’re dying to show it off?

Why don’t you join us at Chat & Craft?

We meet from 6 to 8 pm on the first Tuesday of every month, currently in Community Room West (the large room at the end of the Bramlage and Willcoxon Foundation Gallery).

On February 1st we are doing Show and Tell; bring in your big, intricate, or time-consuming project you want to show off, and maybe tell us a bit about it.

Feel free to also bring a project to work on during the meeting – that’s half the fun!

 

Update: I think the impending snow kept away quite a few of us, but we had a good time anyway! Stay warm out there.

 

      

October 4, 2021 – CnC Outside Meeting

We are going to try something different. We have not met in person since the April 2020. We have had many months of online virtual meetings but it is not the same. We have some members that have never joined us on our virtual adventures. Thanks to those that have joined us.

We will meet outside near the “red” benches on the east side  of the main entrance area, left side if you are facing the main entrance doors. You can bring your own chair or set on the benches. The library closes at 6pm on Tuesdays but you can start arriving at 5:30 to the outside area.

If it is suppose to rain, we will cancel the meeting. Check back here that night, if you are unsure if we will still be having our outside Chat n Craft meeting.

It is BYOP – Bring Your Own Project – to work on.

Chat n Craft FB group

Since we are not meeting in person we have found a way to meet virtually. If you are on Facebook, you can join our group CnC JPL. You will have to search for the group or you can ask someone who is already a member. After you are accepted you will be able to join our 2x a month FB CnC JPL room where we work on our projects, talk and laugh with each other. The rest of the month you can post pics of what you have completed or working on.

We meet in the FB CnC JPL room at 6pm on the first Tuesday of the month.

Don’t forget to check back here, on our website, for patterns to work on and to see what else we have going on.

CnC Zoom Meeting

We are going to try Zooming again on Monday, July 20, 2020, 6:30pm. For those that remember, for years we met on the 3rd Monday of every month. We are going to try that again, only Zooming. Check back here or our blog for the new Zoom login info.

Chat n Craft Zoomed

We had our first Zoom meeting, last Friday, July 3, 2020. We had fun seeing each other for the first time in a few months and talked about future Zoom meetings and continuing the Zooming after we eventually will be able to have the inside the Library monthly meeting again.

We are leaning towards a monthly Zoom session around the middle of the month. Same time each month. Think about what time would be good for you. Then go to our blog and comment on the times that would be best. Afternoon or Evening? Weekday or a Saturday? I have not made a poll yet but am hoping to get several comments first.

The Library is open to the public but our meeting rooms are not open yet. I have had several CnC members ask when will be able to meet again. We are trying to figure out a way. I am wanting your ideas on what you would like. You are very creative, we can come up with something. I have put up the Blossom Stitch Washcloth we were going to do in April. Realized we need a place for you to comment with ideas without having to come into the library.

Remembering we used to use a blog that allowed commenting, I dusted it off and made a post you can comment on there.

Think about – Do you Zoom? Day/week/time you would be available? Post patterns and youtubes to learn a new stitch or ???

January 7, 2020 – Chat n Craft meeting

Chat n Craft meets the first Tuesday of each month that the library is open.

January is BYOP (Bring Your Own Project) month. Come join us for fun, laughter and working on our unfinished projects (UFOs). Can’t wait to see what you are working on.
