High School Book Club: Spring Break Edition

You choose the book!  Pick a book to go with the monthly theme and come chat about it.  We’ll also select the theme for the next month.  Brown bag suppers are welcome; dessert’s on us.

Middle School Book Club

Each month we read a book on a different theme and chat about it.  We also pick the theme for the next month.  You choose the book you read.

February’s theme is “fractured fairy tales”, also known as “fairy tales retold”.  Come ready for a chat!

Panel Discussion: Human Trafficking

This panel discussion is hosted by Post Art Library, in coordination with Neosho artist Sarah Serio’s current exhibit, “Welcome to the Game: Human Trafficking in America.” Representatives from the Joplin Police Department, Life Choices, Rapha House, and Ascension Via Christi Hospital comprise the panel.

Attendees can expect to learn about human trafficking, including the different types of trafficking and red flags often associated with trafficking. Also, audience members will be permitted to submit questions throughout the discussion.

You asked–we answered! Be part of something new in the Joplin area–an anime/manga fan outlet for ages 18 and up. The library is offering an initial meetup to jump start a self-sustaining community group. Meet other anime and manga fans and help kick off a new venture in town!

Artist’s Reception with Sarah Serio

Join us in the gallery for a brief artist’s talk and a reception! “Welcome to the Game: Human Trafficking in America” by Neosho artist Sarah Serio is on display now through March 2019 in our Bramlage and Wilcoxon Foundation Gallery. Serio is a printmaker creating in traditional methods of hand-carved, hand-inked, and hand-pulled works. Her work focuses on and raises awareness about the millions of people world-wide who are victims of human trafficking.
