Adult Summer Reading Book Club Discussion

The Adult Summer Reading program is excited to present a virtual book club featuring debut author Phan Que Mai Nguyen’s The Mountains Sing. Participants may access this title through the JPL catalog or via Hoopla. The live book club discussion will take place virtually on Zoom on Wednesday, July 22, from 6:30-7:30 PM. The Zoom meeting link will be shared on Facebook and the JPL website prior to the meeting.

Let’s Cook with Lisa

Joplin Public Library is excited to announce “Let’s Cook with Lisa,” a two-part cooking series featuring our very own Lisa Brown! These programs are a part of the adult summer reading program.

OMG Josh Magic Workshop

HOMEMADE MAGIC SHOW WORKSHOP with Oh My Gosh Josh!

Grab your capes and get ready to create your own magic show with props you already have around the house! OMG Josh will help you create your starring role in this fun and exciting workshop. Learn to perform with Jumping Rubberbands, the Invisible Ball, Vanishing Money and so much more! We will make magic hats and magic wands as well! Plus, OMG Josh will show you how to set the stage for your debut performance!

This program is designed for children in grades 1-5. The meeting will take place virtually via Zoom. Pre-registration is required; registration can be done via phone (417-623-7953) or email (childrens@joplinpubliclibrary.org).

Mad Science Energy Burst Workshop

This energetic class, which will occur live on Zoom, explores energy transfer and energy conversion!  Children jump and push up to reach their potential. They stretch and release wound rubber band gadgets. Spring into action with poppers, Boinks, and jumping bugs.

The Catapult Take-Home has the potential to get kinetic!

This program is designed for children in grades 1-5 and is limited to 20 attendees. Pre-registration is required and attendees will receive the Zoom link and have the opportunity to pick up the supplies on May 26th and 27th.
