Hobbit Day at JPL

Hobbit Day started in 1978 and was chosen to be September 22nd, the date referenced in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings as being the birthdate of both the hobbits Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.

In honor of this Middle Earthian Celebration, we invite you to join us at Joplin Public Library for all things Tolkien.  Complete a scavenger hunt based on Bilbo’s riddles, create a flower crown in the Makerspace, make your own Hobbit Feet, and more!  This event is in partnership with Joplin Empire Market, who will continue the celebration on September 23!

We also invite you to check out all of our Hobbit related resources like books and movies in the JPL collection!
