Anime/Manga Club

Dive into the worlds of anime and manga with the Teen Department!  Watch some anime, hang out with other otaku, draw your favorite characters, and more!  This month, bring suggestions for titles to add to the Library’s collection.  Cosplay’s always welcome, never required.  🙂  This activity is designed for teens in middle school and high school.

Registration is required, and seats are limited!  Register today by emailing teen@joplinpubliclibrary.org or calling the Teen Office, 417-623-7953, ext. 1027, or stopping by the Teen Desk.

In an effort to offer safe activities, masks will be required for all participants (per CDC guidelines).  Registration and attendance limits are in effect to maintain social distancing.  Library staff will disinfect materials as needed throughout programs.

Joplin Writers’ Faire

The Joplin Writers’ Faire is coming back to Joplin Public Library! Saturday, October 9 starting at 10 am (come & go)!
Free event for all ages! Meet regional authors, buy books and get them signed! Attendees will have a chance to win prizes.

Free Flu Shot Clinic!

Joplin Public Library will be hosting a free flu shot clinic in partnership with the Community Clinic of Southwest Missouri. No registration, paperwork, or Library card required.

Dog Day Afternoon

Dog Day Afternoon is designed to help newly independent readers become more comfortable reading! Children will have the opportunity to read to one of our sweet therapy dogs and their owner in a quiet, non-threatening environment (each child will read for approximately 6 minutes, though the exact time depends on the number of therapy dogs and children in attendance).
