Children’s Chess Club

hildren of all skill levels are invited to play chess with the JPL Children’s Department and the Joplin Area Chess Club! We meet once a month for approximately 30 minutes to learn, play, and have fun.

Teen Takeout Kit–Colorific Abstract Art

It’s an end-of-summer bonus! Jump into the amazing world of color with our latest kit. Learn how to mix a variety of colors with just the basics then use the enclosed squirt bottle to create abstract art on canvas. Starting at 10:00am on Saturday, July 29, teens can pick up an abstract art kit in the Teen Department or through curbside pickup. Supplies are limited, so grab one before they’re gone!

Designed for grades 6-12; no registration needed.

Teen Takeout Kit–DIY Puzzle & Comics

It’s a 2-for-1, end-of-summer-reading bonus! Like to draw? Design ocean-themed comics and decorate a (pre-cut) jigsaw puzzle with the Teen Department’s latest kit! Starting at 11:00am, Wednesday, July 27, teens can pick up kits in the Teen Department or through curbside pickup. Available while supplies last!

Summer Movie Night Take-Home

Host your own Summer Movie Night!  Check out our curated list of recommendations, then pick up your movie from the Library and a Popcorn Take-Home to complete your evening!  We’ll have Summer Movie Night invitations you can print yourself to invite friends or family, and a list of tips to make your night a success.  Follow us on social media (Facebook & Instagram) for more information!

Whether you crochet, knit, stitch, draw, or paint, bring along your current project and chat with us! All crafts are welcome!

We meet from 6 to 8 pm on the first Tuesday of every month in Community Room West (the large room at the end of the Bramlage and Willcoxon Foundation Gallery).
