Game Night–Zombie Edition

Grades 6-12; no registration needed.

Must. Have. Games…We have table games, cards, and a Wii U.  Live and undead players are welcome.  Some snacks available—Bring Your Own Brains.

Cosplay and zombie accessorizing are optional.

Anime/Manga Club

Grades 6-12; no registration needed.

We discuss current manga reads, play games, or work on our own creations. We also watch at least one episode of an anime. Also, there are snacks.

LEGO Buildathon

Grades 6-12; no registration needed.

It’s a LEGOfest for teens! Unleash your creativity in our free build, or try a construction challenge. You supply the ideas–we supply the LEGOs.

High School Book Club

Grades 9-12; no registration needed.

High School Book Club is back!  Read what you like–pick a title that ties into the theme and come chat about it then vote on the theme for next month.  You provide the comments; we’ll provide dessert.

October’s theme is “spooky”.  Get ready for tales to chill the blood and tingle the spine, if you dare.

Read what you want!  Each month we read a book on a different theme, chat about it, then choose the theme for the next month’s book.  Bring your dinner, if you like; we’ll provide dessert.

Early Childhood Family Support Group: Exploring the Learning Environment with Babies

The Children’s Department at Rosemary Titus Reynolds Children’s Library in Joplin Public Library invite you to come explore ways to interact with children ages three years and younger, learn how to help your child’s development, and get common questions answered. This friendly, non-judgemental family support group provides a structure for families to think, talk, and learn about their child’s health and well-being, learning, and development. Suggested age: Families with Children birth to three years and pregnant Moms.  Sessions offered quarterly.  This group is facilitated through a partnership with Economic Security Corporation of SW Missouri.

Harry Potter Day Celebration

Back by popular demand!  You won’t believe what the Children’s Department has conjured this year in celebration of our favorite boy wizard!  Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

Dog Day Afternoon: Happy Holidays Event with Mrs. Claus!

The Holidays have gone to the Dogs!  Our furry friends are back for a special holiday themed event.

Children up to fifth grade and their families are invited to come read to a dog, hear a story from Mrs. Claus, have a cookie, and complete a craft. The Therapy Dogs from Dog Day Afternoon will be dressed for the occasion and ready for their photo op!

Makerspace Open Hours

Our Makerspace is open! Library staff will assist on a walk-in, first come, first serve basis. FREE. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. LIBRARY CARD NOT NEEDED. Patrons under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian when in the Makerspace. See our MAKERSPACE page for more information.
