Library Employment - Job Openings
20 hours per week, may occasionally work up to 27 hours, includes daytime, evening and weekend hours. Two years college preferred. Library experience not required. Must have excellent customer service skills, strong keyboarding skills, and familiarity with computers, and be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task. Ideal candidate is cheerful, personable, unflappable, and enthusiastic.
Bulk of shifts are spent standing/walking; duties include registering new patrons, checking materials in/out, answering phones, fielding questions, shelving materials, locating materials in the library; other tasks as assigned.
This is a public-contact position. A pleasant demeanor, diplomacy, and good manners are essential. Job occasionally involves dealing with unhappy patrons. Position is part of an 18-member department; must work and play well with others.
